I am Tina Marie Collier-Duncan, an independent publication and document designer based in Rockwell City, Iowa. My focus is the reading experience: where a reader begins, how a chapter unfolds and how a page holds supporting information. I approach a publication as a connected sequence rather than a collection of isolated pages. The original concept studies here explore editorial layouts, reports and practical guides; they are not presented as commissioned publications or client results.
The space around a paragraph is part of the reading experience.
Thinking in sequences
In the Margins asks how an opening spread can invite a reader into an essay. Fieldwork explores a dependable report system. Plain Language studies short reference sections. These fictional briefs allow the page structure, typography and supporting elements to be examined together.
